Samokov/Borovets ski area
Samokov area is the area is that includes the town of Samokov, the neighbouring villages and Borovets ski resort. It is located in the Southwestern part of the country, only 60 km away from the capital of Sofia. The total population of the area is about 45000 people. The advantages of being very near to Borovets ski resort (only 10 km away) and to the biggest Bulgarian artificial lake “Iskar” (15 km away), give to Samokov area unique future development prospects that are even increased with the expected development of the Super Borovets Project. The area has everything that could charm, beautiful combined mountain and lake landscape, skiing and hiking opportunities, easy access to the capital of Sofia and the unique flavour of the local traditions.
Borovets is the biggest first class Bulgarian ski resort, located at 1350 m altitude in the highest (peaking at almost 3000 m of altitude) Bulgarian mountain – Rila and only 70 km away from the capital of Sofia. The total length of the ski slopes is more than 45 km. They are grouped in 3 areas with different degrees of difficulty. The slopes are constantly maintained in a perfect condition and have multilingual marking. During the summer season the resort is a wonderful place for mountain hiking. The resort has a big number of hotels and facilities providing all the necessary services for a perfect vacation.
Super Borovets project has been started for the expansion of the ski resort. The project involves construction of new lifts (including new gondola lift), additional ski runs, golf course, etc.
Black Sea Coast
The Bulgarian Black Sea coastline extends over 380 km of picturesque coves, marvellous sand beaches, clean and warm waters, modern cities and world class resorts. During the summer season the average air temperature is about 28 ºC and the average water temperature is about 25 ºC. Airports are located in the two main cities of Varna and Bourgas. The sea resorts of Albena, Golden Sands, Sunny Day, Rousalka, St. Konstantin and Elena, Balchik,, SunnyBeach, Nessebar, Elenite and Sozopol provide every possible recreational facilities, entertainment and services. There is also a growing number of smaller resort villages that transform literally all the coastline into a magnificient resort area.
